Ivica Ducic, M.D.

Dr. Ducic joined Axogen as Medical Director in January 2017. A board-certified plastic surgeon with additional training and expertise in nerve surgery, Dr. Ducic received an M.D. degree from the University of Zagreb (Croatia, EU), and a Ph.D. in neuroscience in 1995. Upon completion of his plastic surgery training at Georgetown University in 2002 followed by a one-year nerve surgery fellowship, he joined the full-time faculty practice at Georgetown University Hospital Department of Plastic Surgery in August 2003, where he served as professor of plastic surgery and neurosurgery. In 2014, Dr. Ducic established his own practice—the Washington Nerve Institute in McLean, Virginia—while continuing to serve as Clinical Professor of Surgery at The George Washington University. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Ducic has served as the Past President of the American Society for Peripheral Nerve, served on numerous committees, published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, co-authored a book, and 17 additional book chapters, and has been a prolific invited educator both nationally and internationally on the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral nerve injuries. Dr. Ducic is an instrumental leader in the development of new technologies, applicable surgical techniques, surgeon education, and strategic company guidance. In 2023, Dr. Ducic’ s leadership expanded to include responsibility for the Professional Education and Medical Affairs team and facilitating the biologic-transition of Avance Nerve Graft to further advance Axogen as the industry leader focused on improving the quality of life of patients with nerve injuries.
